Derby Days Raises Record Total for Huntsman Cancer Foundation
$56,416 raised for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation — more than double the chapter’s all-time single-year record, in just two quarters.
Delta Iota’s Derby Days campaign raised $56,416, more than twice the largest total the chapter has ever raised in a full academic year, and did it across two quarters. The total earned the chapter Sigma Chi’s 50K Club award at the 2026 Krach Transformational Leaders Workshop.
Every dollar goes directly to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation’s research and patient care programs. Sigma Chi has partnered with the foundation nationally for decades, and Derby Days is how our chapter carries that partnership on campus.
The week ran on the participation of the entire chapter alongside our partners in the DU Greek community, and on the second annual Derby Days Faceoff, our charity hockey game against Pi Kappa Phi at DU, which was recognized at KTLW as Sigma Chi’s Best Indoor Event. The series now stands tied 1-1.
The chapter takes the ice as the “Mighty Drunks,” a spinoff of the infamous Mighty Ducks and the hockey arm of Delta Iota for five years now.
We extend our thanks to every student, parent, alumnus, and local business who gave. The number belongs to all of you, and we intend to beat it next year.
